Outings and Lost Child Policy
* Outings will be open to all parents and carers.
* The adult to child ration will take account of the nature of the outing. Playgroup will ensure a ratio or one adult to two children on major outings.
* Written permission will be sought from parents before every major outing. Permission for smaller, local trips and walks will be sought when the child starts Playgroup.
* any special needs or other equal opportunities issues will be discussed with parents in advance.
* Any staff cars used for major outings will have insurance cover for business use. All driving licences and MOT certificates for cars will be checked.
* Seat belts will be used at all times as well as booster or car seats when provided by parents/carers.
* No child will be left in a vehicle unattended.
* A mobile phone will be taken on all trips – this number is provided to parents.
* Essential records and equipment will be taken including a first aid kit, medication, spare clothes and plastic bags.
* A register will be held by the supervisor of all persons attending the trip, with emergency contact details.
* All health and hygiene policies will be followed in the case of a child becoming unwell or having an accident on an outing. The supervisor will be aware of the parents wished regarding medical advice and treatment in the absence of the childs parents.
Lost child procedure
We aim to minimise the chance of a child becoming lost on an outing by:
* providing a high adult to child ratio
* encouraging the wearing of Playgroup uniform
If a child has become separated from the adult responsible for them the adult will
- Carry out an initial search of the immediate area
- Inform the supervisor who will inform other staff and adults in the group
- Gather all children together to enable some adults to search a wider area.
- Parents and police will be informed if the child cannot be found
This policy was adopted at the Blakesley Pre-School Playgroup Annual General Meeting on 30th June 2003
